Family Life Center On Thursday September 18, 2008, in a church business meeting, the church passed a vote of confidence in the church board to pursue developing plans for a proposed family life center on our vacant lot!
=================================== The Pastor’s Confidence Shattered The Price Tag $2,111,326.70 The Pastor shared with the church how his confidence in the vision had been shattered by the announcement of the price tag. That night a fellow minister called about a totally unrelated issue. In sharing his disappointment, this minister friend asked the pastor where his faith was! God is not poor, the “Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness, thereof!” If he had given the vision, then he was fully prepared to bring it about, even if it means supplying the need from outside of the church, as well as from within! The following day in his private devotions, the pastor explained at the meeting, the Lord had challenged him to be generous with his “seed planting” (1 Corinthians 9:6-11). He must be prepared to sow seed and not to be discouraged by the seeming insurmountable costs of the project! The pastor then went on to challenge the church, that we only have three real options… 1. To do nothing and maintain what we have “The kiss of death on the church” ~ David Bullard, Deacon 2. To go in a new direction (It will cost many more millions of dollars to relocate) or 3. To accept the challenge God has given us and act on it by faith At that point he said that he would accept the 70¢! Starting at the front pew and then all over the building people began waving their “seed” at the pastor, who cheerfully accepted the demonstration of faith… that day we spontaneously planted approximately $125 of unexpected seed in this vision from God! =================================== STRATEGY This vision had been four years in the making when it came to a vote, on September 18, 2008. At this point, the only way to realize our God-given “dream” is to follow a careful strategy. In a similar building mode sometime back, the Lord revealed an important principle to the church leaders, which we have careful followed ever since, “We are about people, not buildings.” The pastor pledged, therefore, that we would not spend down our existing capital and risk shutting off the resources for ministry to the people of our church and to the lost. Neither would we incur debt to the extent that repayment will absorb the resources that God has given us week by week to do ministry. =================================== How do you eat and elephant? One bite at a time! We will follow three principles… 1. Start fund-raising now! 2. Rigorously grow the church under the anointing of God (The pastor is committed to a thorough restructuring and retooling of every ministry from the top of the music department to the nursery) 3. Develop phases for the project to make it manageable and doable, so that we can pay for it as much as possible as we go along. Check back from time to time to see how our fund raising is going and to see what progress we are making on this vision which leads to the future! BETTER STILL JOIN US AND BECOME A PART OF IT!
