Sunday School
The core of our ministry philosophy is the Word of God. We believe it is the Word that changes lives and ministers to Christians. On Sunday morning, before the worship service, we hold Sunday school classes. The Sunday school program is a systematic exploration of the Bible and classes are designed to be graded by age for those up to 18 years old. The adult classes are divided according to interest and teaching style. This allows for a great deal of freedom and choice in selecting a class to meet specific needs and tastes.

Sunday Services
The Sunday services are unique worship and ministry opportunities. Here we give passionate expression to our faith and worship, while at the same time seriously seeking the demonstration of God's power in our lives. On Sunday mornings we meet for corporate worship in the sanctuary. While recognizing that everyone's taste is different, Wilmington First seeks to blend contemporary and traditional worship styles, in order to minister to each one who attends. It is important that everyone can identify with the worship of the church in some way. Sunday night is less formal. The services include singing, worship prayer and testimonies. Most of the time the evening service focuses on passionate prayer and time around the altar. During this time of seeking God, we try to respond to God’s Word and its challenge to our hearts.

Children's Church
Children's church meets every Sunday in the fellowship hall at about 11:20 AM. This ministry is for children of between 4 and 10 years. In their own class they learn about Jesus Christ and how to serve him, with an emphasis on practical Christian living. On the last Sunday of each month there is no children’s church. This is Family Sunday and families are encouraged to worship together for the entire service. Once a quarter on Family Sunday the Pastor delivers a special children’s sermon (usually an illustrated message).

Wednesday Evening
On Wednesdays the pastor conducts a serious and in depth Bible study for the adults. There is opportunity for discussion and questions. In the spring the pastor takes several weeks out for a topical study, and in the fall for some sort of practical training.

Wednesday Night Youth Activities
The youth meet on Wednesday nights for the following activities, which rotate every other Wednesday: Missionettes and Royal Rangers; Bible Quest and Coffee Talk.

Choir Practice
Choir practice is held after the Wednesday night programs at 8:30 PM, under the direction of Pansy Rumley. This is the time when the choir meets to prepare for Sunday Morning Worship, and other special occasions.

Monday Morning Bible Study
Monday morning Bible study meets in the fellowship hall of the church at 10:00 AM throughout the year, except for the summer. Sylvia Sexton and Ethel McCrary are the teachers.

Women's Ministries
Women's ministries is made up of two separate circles which meet on the second Monday and Tuesday of each month at 7:30 PM in the homes of the members.

Men's Fellowship
Men's fellowship meets on the last Saturday of each month at 8:00 AM for breakfast. Often the men work on a project at the church. They are also collecting food for a food bank to help needy families in the church.

Youth Week and Talent
Each year we hold our Youth Week. During Youth Week the young people participate in the services and enjoy special fellowship activities most nights.

Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible school is held every year during the summer. Sometimes it is a traditional Bible School with classes, crafts and refreshments. Sometimes we have a special visitor or program for the week, or a one day school closing with a pig picking. Week long Bible School is Monday through Friday nights.

Youth Skate Night
Twice each year, during youth week (in the early part of the year), and in the again in the fall (around October/November) the church rents the local skating rink (Scooters) for Youth Skate Night. Refreshments are served!

Thanksgiving
On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving the Pastor cooks a full Thanksgiving meal for the church. Everyone is invited to come and eat and to share a time of special communion together at the conclusion of the meal. The meal replaces the Wednesday Night Bible Study Program.

Homecoming
Homecoming is held every year on the first Sunday in October. Our morning worship service features a special guest speaker, sometimes a former pastor. After the service we fellowship around a covered dish meal in the fellowship hall.

Christmas Program
The Church Education Department (the Sunday School Ministry) and the music department alternate each year, a Sunday or two before Christmas, presenting a special program to celebrate the season. This is done during the evening service time. At some point before Christmas we will hold a reception in the fellowship hall after one of our services to exchange gifts and recognize our leaders.
